Interior CS Fred Matiang'i cancels event to avoid clashing with DP William Ruto function in Keroka, Nyamira County

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has called off his planned Friday event in Keroka, Nyamira County after discovering a scheduling conflict.

Dr Matiang'i was forced to cancel on account of Deputy President William Ruto who will be visiting the county for a number of functions on the same day.

The CS was slated to open the new office block at Keroka Police Station as the chief guest at the ceremony.

DP Ruto will be officially opening the West Mugirango CDF offices and laying a foundation stone for Nyaigesa Technical Training Institute.

DP Ruto to lead church fundraisers in Nyamira

The deputy president will also lead fundraising events at the Nyamira Catholic Parish and 20 Seventh Day Adventist churches during his visit to the county.

Women's groups in North Mugirango will also benefit from the DP's presence in the region as he attends their fundraisers.

A photo of the DP has caused a stir in the past two days after Weitethie MCA Julius Macharia was arrested for displaying it on his matatu.

Mr Macharia was arraigned in court and charged with driving an unroadworthy vehicle as well as improper use of national emblems.

The charge for the unroadworthy vehicle saw him released on a Sh20,000 bail but he was later rearrested and charged afresh which attracted a five-day detention.
