Drama as DCI rearrests Kiambu MCA for using Ruto's portrait in army attire

Judge rules to have MCA stay in jail

Kiambu MCA Julius Taki in court

Kiambu Member of County Assembly Julius Macharia Taki, whose Toyota Hiace bore photos of Deputy President William Ruto in military uniform, has been detained for 5 days.

Although the MCA had been charged in court for operating an unroadworthy vehicle, he was detained again over the improper use of emblems.

This order came barely five minutes after the court had granted Taki a Ksh20,000 cash bail for operating a private vehicle with defective seat belts.

After he was granted the Ksh20,000 cash bail, the state filed a miscellaneous by the DCI seeking to have Taki and his driver detained for five more days over the improper use of emblems.

According to the prosecutor, detectives needed time to investigate the source of the emblem which were on the vehicle.

Taki's defence counsels opposed the application arguing that it was meant to settle political scores.
