2 prisoners pardoned by President Uhuru arrested again for trifling theft

President Uhuru Kenyatta pardoned 7,000 inmates whose jail term was almost complete, and those who had committed petty offences. 2 of the prisoners who were pardoned by the commander-in-chief under power of mercy, have since been arrested for petty theft.

 

Addressing Kenyans during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos, President Uhuru Kenyatta pointed out that there was enough space to jail those found culpable of engaging in corruption as he was pardoning 7000 inmates.

A prisoner who was recently pardoned by President Uhuru has been arrested again after he stole a neighbor’s sheep.

The jailbird, George Kimani, was arrested on Sunday October 23 in his Iria-ini home in Othaya after he was found in possession of the sheep which had gone missing.

Kimani was hiding the sheep in his bathroom; he was also found in possession of bhang when police raided his compound.

That same Sunday October 23, another jailbird who had been pardoned by President Uhuru was arrested after he was caught stealing from a church.

26-year-old Lucas Ngugi Njoroge was caught by worshippers stealing church offering during a Sunday service at Ol Jabet African Independent Pentecostal Church.

Area assistant chief, Charles Ngunjiri, rescued Njoroge from angry worshippers who wanted to beat him. The suspect was arrested and taken to Ol Jabet Police Post.
