Why ODM Governor was sworn in twice

Here is why. So funny!

Kisii Governor James Ongwae was forced to take oath for the second time after an interesting discovery.

Minutes after he had done the highly celebrated fete, it was noted that he had not recited the commitment pledge while holding a Bible, yet he is a Christian.

Kisii High Court magistrate John Njoroge was forced to lead the governor in taking the oath again, after supporters of the governor went rowdy. Residents argued that such should be a ground for logging a petition against the reelected governor.

“We have noted that Governor Ongwae forgot to hold the Bible while taking his oath. We are going to repeat the process so that some may not say that this exercise was not conducted properly,” Mr Njoroge told residents.

During taking of oath, the law requires that while taking oath, the governor or president ought to hold a Holy book – Bible for Christians and Quran for Muslims.

Meanwhile, the fete was attended by hundreds among them the neighbouring Nyamira County Governor John Nyangarama, Kisii Senator elect Prof Sam Ongeri among others.

The swearing in of governors is ongoing nationwide and newly elected governors are set for a retreat next week.
