Jubilee MP David Gikaria has finally been released following his dramatic arrest, on Saturday afternoon.

Reports reaching Pulselive.co.ke indicate that the Nakuru Town East legislator was released on a free bond and is set to appear in court on Monday.

Gikaria was arrested for erecting structures on a disputed piece of land in Nakuru’s pipeline area and assaulting a senior police officer.

Nakuru Deputy County Commander Kirinya Limbitu said they received information that the MP and area MCA Humphrey Mwaniki planned to lead youths in constructing illegal structures on private property.

The construction was to take place on part of a three acres piece of land belonging to former Nakuru mayor Mohammed Surraw.

In a report by Nation, the former Mayor said that the two legislators (Gikaria and Mwaniki) wanted to grab his land.

He also accused Gikaria of inciting area residents against the Somali community living in Pipeline area.

There are several pending court cases regarding this land. I fear my life is in danger as there have been threats to burn down my petrol station since the MP incited the youth to construct illegal structures,” said Mohammed Surraw.
