Anne Kiguta duing interview with Governor Mike Sonko

K24 news anchor Anne Kiguta received backlash after her interview with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Sunday night.

After the interview on the new show dubbed Punchline was posted on Youtube, netizens accused Ms Kiguta of not asking about the issues facing Nairobians and being too emotional.

The complaints by some Kenyans seemed to emanate from Ms Kiguta's questions as to whether governor Sonko respects women who challenge him.

"You seem to have a dislike for women who challenge you. Horrible things you have said against women leaders," Ms Kiguta said.

"For example on Labour Day... you said to Esther Passaris when she challenged you on her capacity as an elected woman," she added referring to the spat between Governor Sonko and the Nairobi Women Rep.

In his response, Sonko said that his words were factual and he had no apologies to make since he did not insult the Nairobi Women Rep.

Governor sonko said that it was the female MP who had posted a derogatory statement about him on Facebook first and he only retaliated adding that he was unapologetic.

The Governor also challenged Kiguta why she had chosen to read his response and not that of Millie.

The ugly public war between the two politicians was triggered by the matrimonial life of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

Reactions from the Public

The questions by Kiguta didn't seem to augur well with some Kenyans going by their responses on social media platforms.

Zero apologies

Despite the complains, Ms Kiguta did ask questions regarding youth unemployment in the county, flooding of Nairobi streets during the rainy season among others.

On the other hand, some applauded Ms Kiguta for standing firm during the interview and asking all questions.
