Appearing in court on Wednesday, Gakinya denied the murder charges and will be remanded until Monday, March 16, when his bail application will be heard.
Gakinya's arrest came after sleuths zeroed in on several suspects after forged documents appeared to indicate that Mireille had died of HIV/AIDS.
Her close friend who is yet to take plea in the murder, Lucy Waithera Njuguna is suspected to have forged Mireille's death certificate.
Forged documents
The forged documents filed in court listed Gakinya and Njuguna among others as the beneficiaries of Ms Mireille's Ksh100 million estate.
Njuguna allegedly procured the services of Gakinya to file succession documents before renting out the property located in Milimani estate.
An officer from the Serious Crimes Unit, Franklin Kiraithe, who filed an affidavit at the Nakuru High Court challenging the succession, claimed that Gakinya is in possession of Mireille's Toyota Prado, registration number KBP 298E.
Reports have indicated that Homicide Investigations Unit said the officers had visited houses Ms Waithera had called home in Pipeline, Milimani, Blankets and London.
