Gor Mahia club in mourning following tragic death of 4

19 die in separate accidents across the country

The football fraternity is in mourning following the tragic death of at least 4 Gor Mahia football club fans who died when a vehicle they were travelling was involved in a road accident.

The football fans were headed to Machakos to support the club that has a fixture against Thika United at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.

The accident occurred along Mombasa road at Mlolongo and left others nursing injuries.

Meanwhile 7 people were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in was swept away by raging flood waters in Karati area, Kinangop constituency.

Two others who were in the vehicle escaped death narrowly.

The incident happened on Sunday morning along the Naivasha-Njabini road, claiming the lives of 3 women and 4 men.

Njabini police boss Joseph Nyameti confirmed the incident which comes as the country continues to experience heavy down pour leaving a trail of destruction.

“The accident happened along Githioro-Naivasha road past Githabai market. We suspect the driver lost control before hitting a culvert and rolled severally,”  Nyameti said.

Sunday has seen close to 20 lives lost in separate incidents. Early in the morning, 8 others perishes in a tragic accident along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi road.
