Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Saturday arrested newly appointed Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Chairman Dr. Ben Chumo, on suspicion of committing economic crimes.
Dr. Chumo who is the immediate former Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) Chief Executive was arrested alongside Beatrice Meso and Peter Mwicigi the General manager Regional Co-ordination, while Benson Muriithi the General Manager, Network Management was ordered to report at the nearest police station.
According to the DCI, the four will be charged with fraudulent acquisition of public property, abuse of office, aiding commission of felony and failure to comply with lawful procurement procedures.
“They are to be charged with offences of conspiring to commit an offence of economic crime namely fraudulent acquisition of public property, aiding commission of a felony, abuse of office, willful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement among other charges,” read a tweet from the DCI.
The DCI added that they were still pursuing other suspects.
