Uproar among Kenyans after KNH doctors operate on wrong patient

This is what Kenyans had to say about KNH

The incident was first brought to light by NTV in an investigative piece. Shortly after the news aired KNH CEO Lily Koros made an admission and suspended members of the staff responsible for the surgery.

According to Ms. Koros there was a mix-up of patients leading to a brain surgery being performed on the wrong patient.

Kenyans on social media castigated KNH with many expressing their fear of seeking medical services at the largest referral hospital in the country.

Well-known lawyer Donald Kipkorir called on the newly appointed Health Minister Sicily Kariuki to dissolve KNH’s board. Mr Kipkorir also stated that the hospital is rotting and needs a fresh start.

“Dear Hon. Sicily Kariuki, Minister for Health .... Kindly dissolve the Board Of Directors & the top Management Of Kenyatta National Hospital, the biggest Hospital in Eastern Africa... The many mishaps are symptomatic of deep Systemic Rot. KNH needs Fresh Start, not Reforms,” the lawyer said.

A secion of the public opined that it was a matter of negligence and called on Ms. Koros to resign.
