DP Ruto's night meeting with clergy that has sparked mixed reactions

The DP met several Catholic leaders at an event in Nairobi.

His association with the clergymen, Kenyans online reminiscence, brought memories of DP Ruto’s once famous quote that “I’m investing in heavenly matters, if you want to invest elsewhere, that is your right.”

“The Church continues to be a vital partner in spearheading unity, harmonious relations among communities and an anchor to development initiatives in education and health. Our collective efforts will realise equity, shared prosperity and oneness,” the DP tweeted.

His followers pounced on his tweet, arguing that the fact that the clergymen associate with the DP neutralized any efforts by the churchmen to condemn the government’s evil including corruption.

“Am sad if this is what money is doing to our churches. No wonder they can't point a finger at the political thieves. Down with these hypocritical church leadership,” a George Orando claims.

Lenny Chege adds: “Phrase it as it should, the church continues to be your sanitizing agent for the filthy riches you've amassed the wrong way.”

Another twitter user felt that the clergymen who associate with the DP should be ‘sacked’, but failed to indicate why such a move should be pulled.

“These Catholic Bishops should be suspended from Church. They are taking investments robbed from the public,” a Guissepes tweeted.
