DPP Haji drags Maraga in Philomena Mwilu’s scandalous case

DPP Haji to Maraga

Mr. Haji said that he wants an uneven number of judges to listen to Ms. Mwilu’s petition challenging her prosecution.

The DPP filed a case against the deputy chief justice over corruption-related charges and abuse of office but Ms. Mwilu has since sought court orders temporarily suspending her prosecution.

Through senior prosecuting counsel Lilian Ogwora, Haji said: "The petitioner seeks to stop a matter of grave public importance and interest since it concerns the question of the conduct of public servants and state officers."

DPP Haji said that the bench should be composed by October 9, 2018, when Mwilu’s petition will be heard.

"It is in the interest of justice and public that an uneven number of judges be appointed to hear this petition to settle questions raised," Haji argues.

According to Mwilu, the criminal proceeding launched against her was motivated by malice.

She accused Mr. Haji of being part of a larger scheme to embarrass her as the country's second top judge.
