A man ecstatic to see President Uhuru Kenyatta on the streets of Nairobi walking was on Wednesday roughed up by Kenyatta’s bodyguard.
The middle-aged man was among Nairobians who were surprised to see the Head of State traversing the streets to a meeting at the National Treasury.
He tried to shake hands with President Kenyatta but the moment was short-lived as the President’s security shoved his hand away.
In a video capturing the short moment, the man who was dressed in a white shirt extended his hand to be close to the helm of power but Kenyatta himself appeared not interested in the excitement portrayed by him.
Just in passing President Kenyatta greeted him without glancing at the face of this elated man and the bodyguard was there to make sure that he (the man) does not consume much of the President’s time.
Mr. Kenyatta walked from his Harambee House office to the National Treasury where he held a meeting with the economic team ahead of his inauguration on November 28, 2017.
The move by the President to stroll to his meeting elicited an array of reactions with some stating that it was just a PR stunt.
Others were in support of the Kenyatta’s act describing him as mtu wa watu ( a man of the people).
