Kenya Power has announced that a technical hitch emanating from one of their transmission systems was the cause of blackout in the country.
In a press statement, the electricity company stated that the faulty section had been isolated and power restored in most parts of the country."A technical hitch emanating from our transmission system has led to the loss of electricity to parts of the country this evening," part of the statement read.

Affected Counties Most of the counties which were affected which include: Bomet, Embu, Kiambu, Kisii, Kisumu, Laikipia, Nairobi, Narok, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Mombasa, Meru, Taita Taveta, Tharaka-Nithi and Uasin Gishu. Anxiety gripped the country on Tuesday evening after the country was plunged into darkness in the evening.A similar incident in 2017 happened but the affected regions were Mt. Kenya, Nairobi and Coast with the power company blaming a monkey for the fault.
