Kidero now risks being taken to the cold Industrial Area remand.
Anticorruption Court Chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti on Thursday directed the two (Kidero and former acting head of Treasury Maurice Ochieng Okere) to be held at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) cells until Friday morning, pending the processing of their bail terms.
The court contented that if the two fail to complete the process by 10am, they should be taken to Industrial Area remand.
Dr Kidero and his co-accused, after denying corruption and abuse of office charges, the court ordered them to deposit a cash bail of Sh2 million each in court to secure their release.
In addition, they are further required to execute personal bonds of Sh5 million each and deposit a bond of Sh3 million each plus surety of the same amount.
The court heard that the two accused and seven others, who were not in court, conspired to commit fraud which led to the loss of Sh213,327,300 at the county government between January 16, 2014, and January 25, 2016. They allegedly conspired to commit corruption by authorizing payment to various companies for services not rendered.
Meanwhile, Kidero’s son Ronald Kidero was on Thursday evening briefly held at Central police station, before he was locked up at Gigiri police station for the night. He is facing accusations of dealing in adulterated fuel.
