Sonko opens up after being accused of stealing from Dubai Prince

Prince Al Maktoum is the richest person and the ruler of Dubai

Keen eyed social media users flagged of a statement allegedly issued by the Nairobi Governor after he had chaired what was described as an Executive Council on Wednesday.

The one-paragraph statement was a 100 percent plagiarised from a similar one from Al Maktoum's Linkedin account.

As social media users continued to criticise the Nairobi Governor over the supposed plagiarism, his office released a statement distancing itself from the account which had published the controversial post.

"This is to inform the general public that all Facebook accounts in the name of Mike Sonko or Mike Mbuvi Sonko are fake!"

"For the avoidance of doubt, my official Facebook Page through which I make official communication has 1.3 million likes and verified by Facebook through a blue tick and is registered as Mike Sonko," the statement read in part.

Pulselive.co.ke contacted Sonko's communication Assistant, Richard Bosire, who confirmed that the Nairobi Governor does not operate a Linkedin account.

The development came less than a month since Sonko was linked to plagiarism in a newspaper ad that matched that of his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu.
