Drama as Moi Girls Fire Mastermind taken to court
Twist and turns
Journalists were locked out of the court room and restricted from capturing the proceeding.
A KBC reported tweeted stating: "Journalists thrown out of court, ordered not to cover Moi girls school arson suspect".
The Form One girl will be appearing before the court days after she was directed to go for a mental checkup at Mathare Mental Hospital.
Other reports indicate that the court reached at the decision after it emerged that some reporters leaked images of the suspect on social media, contrary to court's regulations.
The teenager has been accused of planning the horrific fire.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspected arsonists came up with the evil ploy during school holiday and discussed it on a five-member WhatsApp group.
Detectives retrieved several WhatsApp messages which brought to light worrying yet disturbing details of how the teenagers hatched the plan.
According to the texts, the girls were supposed to burn down the dormitory on August 31, some two days after students reported back to school from home.
However, this did not happen as “there were a lot of movements that night” which forced them to postpone until September 2, when the dormitory went up in flames killing nine of their colleagues.
On Tuesday, the bodies of the eight girls were positively identified after DNA testing.
