MP Shah Hospital issues statement over outrageous bill

The body of the diseased has been detained

MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi has now issued a statement to explain an outrageous bill of Sh860, 000 following a public outcry.

The hospital in its defense said that medical bills are not dictated only by the duration of stay in hospital, but also by the extent and complexity of the medical procedures given to the patient.

“The patient was brought in on the night of 11th April 2018 shortly before midnight after sustaining injuries which led to massive blood loss. As with protocol, in which every patient has the right to emergency treatment and due to her critical condition, she underwent emergency surgery by a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons. The patient was in critical state and needed life support in our Intensive Care Unit,” read part of the statement.

The statement was issued after Kenyans on social media protested the outrageous bill from the hospital.
