Top government officials sent home over NYS Scandal

This comes after the NYS allegedly lost Sh9 billion

Top government officials in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs have been sent home over the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, dated May 20, Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Prof. Margaret Kobia ordered that officers working at NYS Procurement and Finance departments who are under investigations to immediately go on compulsory leave.

“Following the stepping aside of the Principal Secretary, Youth and Public Service, and the National Youth Service Director General due to ongoing investigations at NYS, I hereby direct: That all officers at NYS in Procurement, Finance and Accounting who are under investigations are directed to proceed on compulsory leave effective immediate to allow investigators to complete their work,” read the statement.

This comes days after Public Service Principal Secretary Lilian Omollo and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai stepped down over the alleged loss of Sh9 billion from the NYS accounts.
