Sonko Message after Igathe’s resignation

Sonko breaks silence

A missive from County Communication Office seen by Pulselive.co.ke indicated that Mr. Sonko had received Mr. Igathe's resignation letter which hit headlines on Friday evening.

According to the Governor’s communication team, he (Sonko) was currently considering the former Vivo managing director’s letter and will be issuing a statement to the public in due time.

“The Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has received a letter of resignation from Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe . The Governor is considering the letter and will issue a comprehensive statement later," the press release reads.

On Friday evening, Mr. Igathe shocked Kenyans when he stated that he will be resigning from his position as the Deputy Governor of Nairobi.

Igathe claimed that he has failed to earn the trust of Governor Mike Sonko to enable him to serve the people of Nairobi as promised during campaigns.

“Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1 pm on 31st Jan 2018,” read his letter.
