Nairobi businessman Praful Kumar has been arrested for trying to bribe Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Mr. Kumar offered a Sh1 Million bribe to Sonko to facilitate the approval of his hotel construction, after the County Government of Nairobi stopped the construction, on Thursday last week.
“EACC has arrested Nairobi businessman Praful Kumar for offering a bribe of Kshs 1 million to Nairobi Governor Michael Mbuvi Sonko to facilitate approval of his hotel under construction.The County Government of Nairobi had stopped the construction of the hotel on 16th August 2018,” read a tweet from the EACC.
At the time of his arrest Mr. Kumar was at his Kilifi home and was found with cash amounting to Sh5 million.
He will be arraigned in Court on Wednesday where he will face corruption charges.
