ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Friday denied claims that he and President Uhuru Kenyatta were part of a political dynasty.

Speaking at the funeral service of the late Jane Kiano, Odinga said he and the President should not be referred or viewed as dynasties merely because of the success of their fathers.

He cited the example of Jane Kiano and her late husband former minister Dr Julius Kiano as people who had worked hard to create an impacting legacy.

"Jane and her husband worked hard to become what they became. Jane was the daughter of a chief while Julius was the son of a pesant. They still worked hard and achieved a lot, you cannot refer to her as a dynasty."

"The same applies to myself and Uhuru. Jomo Kenyatta was the son of a pauper, you cannot refer to Uhuru as a dynasty because of her father. The same applied to Jaramogi. We are who were are because of own individual hard work so there is no dynasty," Odinga said.

The comments came amid reports that Odinga and Kenyatta were working on a purported alliance of "dynasties" that would work against Deputy President William Ruto who has branded his campaign team as that which brings together "hustlers".
