Uhuru Kenyatta mourns Kenya’s renowned scientist
The President has described the late as a person who has been on the forefront to better Kenyan's lives.

The President said as a lead scientist in Kenya Agricultural Research & Livestock Organisation KARLO, Dr. Lanyasunya and others ensured that Kenya continued to be in the forefront in dairy and meat products in the East and Central Africa region.
“Having vast experience in livestock research with a focus on livestock production systems and animal nutrition, Dr Lanyasunya was a driving force in the improvement of our livestock sector, having won several competitive research grants and recognition awards. In 2008, President Mwai Kibaki awarded him Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) for distinguished service to the nation,” said President Kenyatta.
Dr. Lanyasunya, a brother of Kenyan High Commissioner to Canada, Ambassador John Lepi Lanyasunya, was until his death early this month, Director, Dairy Research Institute, Naivasha.
He was also a lead scientist in Livestock research in the Kenya Agricultural Research & Livestock Organisation, KARLO.
President Kenyatta said the death of Dr. Lanyasunya is not only a big loss to the family but also to the country as a whole.
The President said Dr. Lanyasunya commitment and devotion to public service is worthy to be emulated by all Kenyans of goodwill.
