The employee who worked as an Aerodome Control Officer jumped to his death on Friday under unclear circumstances.
Confirming the incident, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director General Capt. Gilbert Kibe said that relevant authorities had already started investigations into the matter.
He added that members of staff who were on duty during the incident and any other people who may have been affected by the death will undergo counselling.
“Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is saddened to confirm an unfortunate incident at our Moi International Airport, Mombasa Air Traffic Control Tower on Friday March 22, 2019, where one of our staff members, an Aerodome Control Officer II (ATC69) lost his life after jumping from the control tower in unclear circumstances,” read part of the statement by KCAA Director General.
Captain Kibe further stated that the family of the diseased had already been informed of the unfortunate incident.
“Our thoughts go out to the family and friends at this difficult time. We extend our deepest sympathies and keep them in our prayers,” read the statement.
