1 thing new UK envoy admires most about Kenyans

New representative

British High Commissioner to Kenya, Jane Marriott

Just three days before she officially assumes office as the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Jane Marriott has revealed a trait she admires about the country.

In an interview with a British publication, Marriot said that she admired the spirit of Kenyans to want to better their lives.

Marriott said: "...there's a real entrepreneurial zeal. It's about the partnership and making things happen, standing on your own two feet and getting stuff done."

She continued: "As a Yorkshire girl, I very much appreciate that approach to life."

The new high commissioner said that top on her agenda will be the need to secure a free trade deal with Kenya as the UK looks into exiting the EU.

"The second thing will be around security, making sure UK interests are protected and that we're working with the Kenyan forces to help them protect their interests, which obviously then benefits us," she said.
