Facebook will no longer be allowing pre-installation of its apps on Huawei phones.
This means that new and upcoming Huawei phones will no longer have Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram apps pre-installed.
A publication by Reuters explained that those using the phone will still be able to use Facebook and it's other Apps.
Huawei customers can still download Facebook from the Google Play store, although whether the Chinese tech smartphones can access the Play store in the future remains unknown.
This move comes barely a month after Google announced that it had cut ties with Huawei a move which would be in effect in 90 days.
Prepared for eventuality
Huawei had been prepared for such a move as it announced that it had developed its own operating systems for both smartphones and computers.
“We have prepared our own operating system, if it turns out we can no longer use these systems, we will be ready and have our plan B,” Huawei executive Richard Yu shared in a recent interview with Die Welt.
According to the South China Morning Post, Huawei announced it has filed a lawsuit against the US government.
This move seeks to overturn the US federal ban on supplying its gear to federal agencies under the country’s National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA).
