The late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua’s body arrived in the country early Friday morning from London.
The late governor passed away last week on Friday while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, United Kingdom.
The body was accompanied from London by close family members led by his widow Margret Karungaru and Governors Paul Chepkwony (Kericho), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma) and Jack Ranguma (Kisumu).
There was a short service held at the airport with prayers conducted Bishop David Muriithi from the House of Grace Church.
Present were several leaders including Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, the new Nyeri Governor Samuel Wamathai, Governors Okoth Obado (Migori), Mwangi wa Iria (Muranga), Ukur Yattani (Marsabit), William Kabogo (Kiambu), Senator Mutahi Kagwe, MPs Mary Wambui, Esther Murugi and Ndung'u Githinji.
The body was later taken to the Lee Funeral Home for public viewing.
The family will hold a final mass on Monday before his burial in Nyeri.
