Speaking during the Nation Media Group leadership forum, Belio Kipsang who is the Education PS, stated that a golf academy was already being constructed at Lenana School.

“We want to put up an 18-hole golf academy,” remarked Sang.
The Education PS further stated that an athletics centre will be set up at St Patrick’s Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet County and a music academy at Nairobi School.

The roll out of the curriculum is set to enable students to choose from a wide range of subjects that they want to pursue at the university level.
Dr. Sang noted that, ”the new curriculum will provide different pathways to students.”

Second Phase of new curriculum
According to the plan by the government, students at senior secondary which will be between ages 15-17 will focus on three areas of specialization depending on their skills, talents and interests.
The areas describe by the abbreviation STEM include, arts and sports science, social sciences and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Graduates from this level will have the choice of whether to join vocational training centres or pursue university education for three years.

The scheduled roll out will be the second phase of the new curriculum after the first one was implemented early this year.
The first roll out suffered various setbacks after teachers complained of confusion resulting from the distribution of textbooks countrywide.
