Disturbing details have emerged on the man who killed his wife, Ann Gathoni and three children in Marurui town, Roysambu constituency.

According to police reports, the man, only identified as Maina, might have raped one of the daughters, who was 13-years old, Mary Wairimu, before brutally killing her, Standard reports.

Going by the revelations disclosed by one of the deceased’s neighbours, Wairimu was tortured before death.

“She was kneeling on the floor, and her hands had been tied behind her back with a rope. Her face was facing sideways,” the source, who sought anonymity, told a local daily.

Maina was not well known to the neighbours

Details regarding Maina have remained scanty since the neighbors didn’t seem to know him well mentioning that he rarely visited the family.

Residents also stated that Main and the late Gathoni had an on-off relationship adding that they had normal squabbles when he visited.

After committing the heinous act, the man in question fled the scene and police are still hunting him down.

Maina, only spared the life of her 2-year-old girl when he murdered the four at around 2 am on Monday.

Ann Gathoni described as hardworking

Neigbours described the late Gathoni as a hardworking person who did everything to feed her children. She is said to have been working in a local pub.

The 33 year-old’s sister, Nancy Wangari, said that Maina was not well known to the family.
