Murkomen raises questions hours after Hassan Joho's visit to Moi
2022 dynamics play centre stage after Joho-Moi visit.
Murkomen has now claimed that that the governor insulted the retired president and his son Gideon who is also the Baringo Senator.
"It’s wrong for Hassan Ali Joho to visit Mzee Moi and shortly thereafter insult him and his beloved son," Murkomen tweeted.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator claimed Joho insulted Moi and his son during a harambee in Tiaty Constituency, Baringo County.
"Mzee Moi did a lot for the country and we respect him a lot. Like other human beings he had weaknesses and flaws known to many Kenyan one of which was neglect of the poor in Tiaty Constituency. When Joho visited Mzee last weekend he went there for inspiration but when we got out to go for Harambee in Tiaty he insulted the very mzee he had visited. Joho called Mzee Moi and his son ( who was major “contractor” in his father’s government) Mwizi," Murkomen added.
Joho's statement
During the harambee Joho said he was against raising money in small harambees for classrooms 54 years after independence.
“ Uwizi ndio umefanya watu wetu kuwa maskini...We should not come here to raise money to build classrooms 54 years after our independence. Watu wanajenga raslimali zao at the expense of mwanchi wa kawaida. We should not come back kwa watu wetu kufanyia hawa harambee ndogo ndogo ...” the Governor said.
Over the weekend, Joho caused a stir in Kenya’s political scene after he led an entourage of MPs, politicians and influential personalities in meeting retired President Moi.
Joho who has declared interest in 2022 presidential elections was accompanied by a team of more than 20 legislators and politicians when he met the man who Deputy President William Ruto failed to met despite a 2-hour long wait earlier this year.
