Philomena Mwilu’s lawyer says they were secretly taped
Here are the controversial photos
Nelson Havi, one of the over ten lawyers forming Mwilu’s legal team, made the claims after a Twitter user, using the handle @RoadAlertsKE, posted some photos of the DCJ’s legal team at the Milimani Law Courts.
Havi said that the photos could only have been gotten from senior officials of the NIS.
“This is the Milimani High Court Advocates’ Lounge. I believe, like any other public office, it has State installed intelligence surveillance cameras and bugs. You must be very high up in the intelligence rank to get access to photographs from those cameras. We are not gullible,” Havi said quoting the shared photos.
Among those who were captured in the shared pictures included Senior Counsel James Orengo, Dr John Khaminwa, and Julie Soweto.
Other lawyers who are representing the besieged Supreme Court judge include former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Harun Ndubi, Daniel Maanzo, Jackson Awele, Edward Waswa, Senator Okong'o Omogeni, Peter Kaluma, and Millie Odhiambo.
Havi’s claims of NIS interference have also been supported by political analyst David Ndii who claimed the state intelligence organ was behind the news stories written by the Nation regarding Mwilu’s case.
The DCJ’s legal team has also accused the DPP of using the criminal case to unfairly remove her from office.
