President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday gave a special recognition to three governors during his speech to mark the fifth Devolution Conference that is currently ongoing in Kakamega.

President Kenyatta's speech made a special recognition of the host governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Mandera's Ali Roba and Makueni's Prof Kivutha Kibwana.

Ali Roba

Oparanya, who is also the ODM Deputy Party Leader, was hailed for being a gracious host for the ongoing conference.

The event has brought together devolution stakeholders including the Council of Governors, Senators, MCAs, and the National Government.

With regard to exemplary performance in the devolved units of governors, President Kenyatta praised Governor's Roba's work in the health sector that has since child mortality rates in Mandera drop by more fifty percent.

The Head of State had similarly words of praise for Prof Kibwana in his programmes that have seen the Makueni County Government pioneer in provision of subsidised healthcare services through a universal insurance system.

Prof Kibwana was also recognised for the food processing programmes that his county government has introduced.

President Kenyatta delivered his speech through a live video link after he cancelled his trip to Kakamega - citing bad weather conditions.
