List of people at State House blocking DP Ruto's 2022 bid - Ruto allies reveal

Murkomen had hinted at a wing of people around the president in a TV interview.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa hinted that some of the people involved were part of a team that crucified DP Ruto, making him face charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“The same cartel that took you to the ICC, we want to serve them notice today...if we genuinely support Uhuru Kenyatta, we must support you [Ruto] to continue furthering the Jubilee agenda,” the MP said over the weekend.

Details are emerging that Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua tops the list, with a host of others, including Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, who has been on the neck of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to resign.

The Interior PS and State House comptroller  Kinuthia Mbugua are equally said to be part of the team working under the presidency to frustrate DP Ruto.

Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe, a close ally of President Kenyatta’s brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, is also said to be technically pushing out DP Ruto from the 2022 bid.

Murathe told off a section of leaders allied to DP Ruto against opposing the President’s order for a lifestyle audit, a move that has sparked jitters in the DP Ruto’s camp.

Earlier, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen was opposed to the audit, citing a well-choreographed move to target the DP and that there was no legal framework to support the audit.

“It would be in the best interest of the DP to keep the party together and the noise from part of his corner is not helping his cause. The party supports everything the President is doing, including the handshake, fighting corruption and the lifestyle audit, and anyone fighting these initiatives is not a friend of Jubilee,” Murathe said as quoted by the Star.

Mr Murathe is said to have denied any wrongdoing in the plot to axe the DP.
