DP Ruto’s event interrupted by rowdy youths

DP Ruto forced to intervene as crowd become hostile in his event

Deputy President William Ruto was forced to intervene after a crowd of rowdy youths interrupted his event in Kerugoya.

His speech at Kerugoya was briefly interrupted by rowdy youths demanding the exit of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

Chants of “Waiguru must go” rent the air, forcing the DP to move in and calm the rowdy youths.

The DP hit out at Kirinyaga leaders as local politics, infighting and succession wars surfaced during his tour, warning that it was hurting Jubilee.

“We agreed to have a unified nation not what we hear coming from Kirinyaga. We do not want to hear fracas and insults coming from this county,” Ruto said.

“All Kirinyaga leaders are members of Jubilee. We should not be fighting, rather we should focus on delivering to the people what we promised them. It is time to work and not play politics,” he added.

The event was attended by a host of Jubilee party leaders from the region including Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici, her Murang’a counterpart Sabina Chege and Senator Charles Kibiru among others.

Following the ugly scenes, none of the local leaders present addressed the crowd.

During the tour, the DP launched several development projects including the upgrading of the 100km Gakoigo- Njegas road.
