The DP clarified that the appointment was deliberate to prove to all Kenyans that their dreams are valid regardless of their backgrounds.

“This proves the point that all of us can become anything they want to be as long as they work hard.” Ruto said.

He advised those still doubting the appointment to accept and move on.

“People are asking if it is true that Echesa was appointed…I want to assure all of you that Uhuru did not guess. Echesa is not a product of guesswork, but a deliberate move.” He added.

The appointment sparked outrage among Kenyans who questioned why more qualified and deserving candidates were left out, only for the president to settle down on Echesa.

His scanty CV failed to impress the vetting committee in parliament who took him to task over the same. He however sailed through and took the oath of office to serve in the Cabinet.
