Duale leads MPs in demand for expensive food in parliament

The outcry comes after MPs conducted a bench-marking in the UK

Majority Leader in National Assembly Aden Duale. He led the MPs in demand for expensive food in parliament

The legislatures want catering services outsourced to have them enjoy Five-Star Hotel food as they protested that the quality of food served in parliament had gone down.

"We must outsource this service. The legislature cannot do business of cooking food. This should be given to the right people,” said Mr Duale.

Report on Changes in the cafeteria

On Wednesday, the MPs demanded implementation of the House report that recommended radical changes in catering services.

The MPs demanded for Parliamentary Service Commission to hire professional chefs similar to those who are hired by Five Star Hotel in the city.

The outcry comes after the legislatures made a bench-marking in the United Kingdom and Nothern Ireland Assembly, and recommended construction of two more cafeterias on the ground floor of parliament.

Drama in Parliament over food

In February, MPs caused drama in the house as they complained to Speaker Justin Muturi over the poor services offered to them.

The then National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed lighted up the sitting when he said that the tea they are being served had little milk and looked like what is offered in funerals.
