In a statement seen by Pulselive.co.ke, the ruling party decided to throw its weight behind the candidature of Wiper's Edith Nyenze.
"After wide consultations within Jubilee Party and putting into consideration other factors touching on Kitui West Constituency, the Jubilee Party has today decided not field any candidate for the upcoming Kitui West by-elections," the statement read in part.
Edith is the widow of the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze. He died at Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Jubilee stated that out of compassion to Mr. Nyenze widow highlighting that it was the only appropriate move to make.
The Party has also observed that the candidate from the other major party in the contest Mrs. Edith Nyenze, whose husband Francis Nyenze passed recently just after winning the seat.
"It is therefore appropriate and compassionate that the widow is granted a chance by the people of Kitui West to implement the development agenda championed by her husband who was a leader of national repute if that is their wish,” Jubilee statement signed by Secretary General Raphael Tuju read.
Nyenze won the Wiper party nominations after garnering 13,388 votes against her main rival Kitili Maluki who got 2,663 votes.
