Did President Uhuru Kenyatta decline to shake Sonko’s hands while attending the funeral service of deceased victims of the Solai tragedy? Well, a section of online users think so.
Amid the escalating tension between Sonko and seniors officials in the Office of the President, a video taken of President Kenyatta arriving at Solai farm has raised eyebrows on why exactly the Head of State did not shake hands with the Nairobi governor.
As is the norm with Presidential functions, a number of local leaders were on the ground to receive President Kenyatta at the red carpet.
Upon alighting from his official vehicle, the Head of State greeted the officials, starting with Matiang’i but left off Sonko who was seeming blocked by Kenyatta’s bodyguard.
"Yesterday at Solai funeral service NTV video may inform this Miguna Miguna nomination. Sonko & President Uhuru refuse to 'handshake' after he arrives. Even couples pretend everything is fine in public lol," Maggy Matolo opined on Twitter.
While some users have interpreted the incident as the President declining to shake Sonko’s hands, others have noted that the Nairobi Governor’s hands were held back suggesting it he (Sonko) was not interested in the handshake.
