Governors, Senators and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on Monday morning staged protests in Nairobi accompanied by hired traditional dancers.

The politicians peacefully marched in their formal suits from the Intercontinental Hotel to Supreme Court buildings as traditional dancers loudly sang traditional songs.
The protests to highlight their plight on division of revenue ended up with a march into the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) with governors using its main entrance while Senators broke through a barricade mounted by police officers on horse-back at the entrance facing City Hall.
The politicians were said to be seeking an advisory opinion from the Supreme Court after talks with the National Government collapsed.
Supreme Court meets Governors over division of revenue stalemate
Council of Governors Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya relayed that they had been successful in their pursuit and had been given a date for a hearing of their petition.
"There are quite a number of issues we have raised with Supreme Court and we are happy they have given this issue the urgency it requires. The mention will be on 19th July, 2019," he stated.
