Hassan Omar set to receive Uhuru in Mombasa on Sunday - ally discloses

Omar has dumped Kalonzo Musyoka's party for Uhuru's Jubilee, sources said.

A source close to the former Wiper leader told a local news site that the Mombasa based leader is set to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday.

“Yes we were with him at the meeting. I even talked to him and he said he will receive the President on Sunday. He told me he has joined the party," an ally to the former Senator told the press after a meeting with Jubilee’s top campaigner Farid Hashim in Tudor, Mombasa County.

It is also understood that Mr Omar is weighing a move the campaign team for Mr Kenyatta at Raila Odinga’s Coastal turf.

Until three weeks ago, Mr Omar has been the Kalonzo Musyoka led Wiper Democratic party and his latest move could weaken the party at the coast. He will now be joining Jubilee’s Suleiman Shahbal – who he competed with in the August 8 gubernatorial race.

In the recent past, Mr Omar petitioned the victory of Mombasa Governor and ODM Deputy Party leader Ali Joho, demanding a repeat of the elections in the area.

Mr Omar argued that the declaration of Mr Joho by the IEBC was premised on irregularities and election malpractices. Mr Joho has since pleaded with the Mombasa High Court to kick out Mr Omar’s case for lack of evidence.

Mr Omar, however, could not be reached for a comment as his phone remained off the network for a better part of Friday morning. He equally failed to respond to messages from Pulse Live Kenya.
