A Sh213 million fraud suit against former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has been stopped temporarily.

High Court Judge John Onyiego gave the orders on Thursday as the case was set for hearing on Monday.

Kidero's team was able to convince the judge that a charge sheet presented in court was defective.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

"A charge sheet is the basis of a criminal trial. Once it’s defective there can never be a trial," Senior Counsel James Orengo argued on behalf of Dr Kidero.

Kidero's two cases

Dr Kidero's previous application to be tried separately from his 10 co-accused was thrown out.

He was later re-arrested in a Sh68 million misappropriation of funds during his tenure at City Hall.

He was later arraigned before a Chief Magistrate where he denied the charges against him and was released on Sh8 million bail terms.
