Interior CS Fred Matiang'i ordered the arrest of all leaders in Isiolo county who are guilty of inciting residents to fight each other.

The CS asserted that skirmishes being experienced in the region are the direct result of reckless talk by area leaders.

"There are elements of political incitement leading to inter-tribal animosity which are common in the region. No one is above the law," he stated.

Pastoralists told to vacate

Dr Matiang'i named a particular slur that was directed at pastoralists, allegedly stating that they did not belong in the county.

"It is shameful that some leaders can make such utterances. Any single Kenyan has a right to live anywhere they chose.

"Our responsibility is to provide security to ensure that citizens live and conduct their business in a safe environment. No more such statements will be tolerated," the CS stated.

The CS further promised to bolster the efforts of security operatives in the county starting with a face lift of Isiolo Police Station.

"Isiolo Police Station is a critical facility given its location and challenges we face as a country and especially movement of populations that sometimes pose a challenge to our security," he promised.
