Waiguru reveals how her children suffered after 'negative' media coverage during NYS Scandal

One of Waiguru's children came under heavy social media attack

Ms. Waiguru, who was at the centre of the NYS saga owing to her position as the Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary, divulged that though she fought hard to protect her children they were still affected by what was going on.

"They have been affected because they do not like the narrative and the stories," she said during the Citizen TV interview.

The Governor went on to speak about her son - Ian Waiguru - who hit headlines after a video of him driving a multimillion luxurious car surfaced on social media at a time when his mother was being accused of corruption.

Waiguru mentioned that despite the negative publicity and social media attacks, Ian went on to excel in his studies abroad.

"My son made me very proud this year, he just finished his university studies and he graduated with a first class honors.

"And for a child who had been under media attack, especially two years ago and constantly having to watch me throughout the campaign, I think we can only thank God," she said.

Waiguru who describes herself as a hands-on parent mentioned that she always strives to find out what her children are going through.

"These children go through very hard times but I must say that as a mother I will defend my children with my life," she stated.
