Waititu and Sonko first meeting since leaked phone call [Photos]

They met in Uhuru’s presence

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu on Wednesday held their first public meeting since the controversial telephone recording between the two was leaked.

The two governors were present at Jomo Kenyatta Mausoleum where President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother, Mama Ngina laid a wreath to mark 40 years since the death of Kenya’s founding President.

Waititu, who was secretly taped by his bosom buddy, appeared not to have ill feelings towards the city boss as they exchanged pleasantries as other dignitaries looked on with apparent amusement.

In the photos captured by Citizen TV, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and Sports CS Rashid Echesa are seen gazing at Waititu and Sonko.

Last week, Sonko’s officials arrested Waititu’s wife, Susan Ndung’u, for allegedly occupying a building without the necessary county approvals.

The Kiambu Governor then called on his Nairobi counterpart to release Susan and her casual labourers.

Sonko has since admitted taping the conversation with the intention of showing the public that nobody will be spared in the fight against “impunity and corruption”.
