Judge orders Mugo Wa Wairimu be taken to Hospital amid Torture Claims

The quack doctor appeared restless during his court appearance

Mugo Wa Wairimu during Wednesday court appearance

The fake doctor who claimed that he had been tortured by the officers who arrested him appeared in court unrepresented.

Mugo was not given a chance to plead to the charges levelled against him as police requested more time to conduct investigations.

He, however, got to plead his case when the prosecution requested the court to detain him for 14 days to allow for thorough investigations.

Still in Police Custody

The Nairobi court, therefore, ordered Mugo Wa Wairimu to be detained at the Pangani Police Station for 10 more days.

The quack doctor asked the court to summon the officers he accused of manhandling him, to which the magistrate advised Mugo to make a formal application.

According to prosecution lawyers, the team is likely to prefer charges of running a clinic without a license, practising medicine without proper qualifications and obtaining money from patients on false pretense.

Why Ombeta ditched the Quack

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta, who had represented Mugo in his first trial, decided to drop the quack as a client explaining that he feared the hate that would emanate from the case.

"I fear the backlash from women and I also have a 17-year-old daughter, this is not a case I will be touching," he said in an exclusive conversation with Pulse Live.

According to an exposé carried out by NTV, Mugo is addicted to some controlled clinical drugs as well as a heavy alcohol user.

It is likely that his addictions are behind the order to be taken to hospital as he appeared restless during his court appearance on Wednesday.
