The highly guarded event went on well but at 4.30pm when the guests were leaving, one couple was held at gun point and shortly after robbed of their vehicle.

The victims’ shouts for help did not help the situation as the armed gangsters sped off.

“We wanted to know reason they were screaming and before we understood what had happened it was too late. We had suspected that the couple that had differed with their children as they walked towards the vehicle," the witness stated.

Murang’a East OCPD Ms Janet Wasige said the police had responded swiftly by ordering close of major roads but added that the vehicle was yet to be recovered.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, were among the VIPs present at the event held in Murang’a town.
