Major division in NASA ahead of Raila Odinga’s swearing in on Jamhuri day
Top NASA leadership split ahead of Raila Odinga’s swearing in on Jamhuri day
Sources privy to the details revealed that the division pits the younger politicians against their more experienced counterparts who have been in the political scene for long.
The seasoned politicians who are opposed to the planned swearing in argue that such a move would dent his legacy as a democrat and a true statesman.
A senior ally of the opposition chief revealed to the Daily Nation that “Odinga is a reform hero admired far and wide. We will not allow him to squander such goodwill. It is true our victory was stolen but this is not the way we want to go”.
The younger politicians on the other hand are pushing for the swearing in arguing out that failure to do so would be a huge disappointment to opposition supporters.
In the days leading to the swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta, the opposition chief received backlash from his supporters who demanded that he hold a parallel swearing in ceremony.
The opposition is also cautious on how the “swearing in” will be done with veteran politicians expressing concern that it would be a mis-step.
With President Uhuru in office, it remains to be seen how the opposition will move on with the swearing in.
