Kingi's family was yet to release an official statement on the passing on of their patriarch.

Dr Kingi was involved in a grisly road accident in September last year and escaped unhurt.

"God is Great. Last night on our way to Naivasha for a Deputy Governors' caucus meeting, we were involved in an accident.

"The 5 of us got out of that wreckage with minor bruises. I thank the Almighty God for His protection," he tweeted at the time.
