NASA issues 48-hour notice to Kenya government

The last-minute notice contradicted an earlier decision taken by Wiper Party

The Opposition team on Wednesday announced a last-minute return of their daily protests, starting this Friday.

NASA issued the legal notice through its lawyer, and a former Nairobi Senatorial candidate, Edwin Sifuna.

Sifuna wrote to the Nairobi County Police Commander, Japheth Koome, indicating that their protests would be peaceful.

“Our clients intend to hold Peaceful procession on Friday 10 November 2017 within Nairobi County as part of its quest for Electoral Justice and an end to electoral impunity in Kenya.

“You are hereby notified of the same and requested to provide security during the said procession/demonstration to ensure criminal elements do not take advantage to harm protesters, the public or any property,” Sifuna stated.

Wiper Party had earlier indicated that it would not participate in any protests until the end of the KCSE exams.
