Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has confronted Maina Kamanda, accusing him of grabbing public land.

A tough talking Sonko who was addressing the congregation at St Stephens ACK, Nairobi during the Central Organization of Trade Unions' (COTU) Prayer Day themed "Angamiza ufisadi ili kubuni nafasi za kazi” tore into the nominated MP for his remarks on Fighting corruption.

"Huyu Kamanda amegrab manyumba pale, amejenga manyumba kwa barabara (This man Kamanda has grabbed houses and has built houses on a-grabbed-road reserve)," Sonko fired.

He faulted the lawmaker of pointing an accusing finger at others at a time when he too is implicated in corruption scandals.

Kamanda who is a vocal critic of DP Ruto under the team Kieleweke movement had stated that hurches should decline donations from politicians who are rumored and known to be corrupt.

The Nairobi county boss also accused his 2017 competitor in the gubernatorial race – Peter Kenneth of bringing Kenya Reinsurance Company to its knees during his tenure as the Managing Director (MD).

Sonko also suspended the ongoing demolition of houses build on land meant for Kenya Power's way leave.

The demolitions have so left hundreds homeless in Githurai 45 and Mihango as well as in other city estates.
